Oakland County, Michigan, is one of the fastest growing counties in the United States. Unfortunately, there simply isn't enough money available to build new roads or widen existing roads fast enough to keep up with the growth. As a result, many roads in Oakland County are congested.

Oakland County: The safest roads in the world

The Road Commission for Oakland County (RCOC), in 1978, made safety it's top priority. That effort has paid off. Today, Oakland County roads have one of the lowest fatality rates in the world for a community its size, with .47 fatalities per 100 million vehicle miles of travel.
